Receiving a Juris Doctor from the Florida State College of Law in 1984, Gary served as a public defender in criminal trial cases for four years prior to going into private practice in the fields of probate, trust, guardianship and elder law in 1988.
Gary is an active member of the Clearwater Bar Association, the St. Petersburg Bar Association, the Guardian Association of Pinellas County, and the Island Estates Civic Association. Having served as an attorney in the Pinellas County area for some thirty years, Gary is an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar in its probate, trust, elder law and real property sections.
Robert C. Thompson, Jr. received a Bachelor in Business Administration from Stetson University in 1993 and his J.D. from Florida Coastal School of Law in 1999. Robert served as a prosecutor in criminal trial cases for three years before going into private practice. Since 2005, Robert’s practice has focused on issues affecting the elderly including estate planning and estate, trust and guardianship administration.
Robert is an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar and is a section member of the Florida Bar Real Property Probate and Trust Law Section. He is also a member of the Clearwater Bar Association and the Guardian Association of Pinellas County.
Cheryl has worked with Gary Fernald since 1989. A Florida registered Paralegal with over 26 years of experience, Cheryl manages all matters regarding Probate Estates, including preparation of pleadings to open the estate, including the Inventory, Final Accounting and documents necessary to complete the closure of probate estates. She also assists in the preparation of Wills, Trusts and Advance Directives, as well as the management of all office accounts, including payroll, preparation of quarterly tax forms, attorney's trust account and operating accounts. In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys boating, the beach, and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Cheryl has worked with Gary since 1995. A Florida registered Paralegal, Cheryl manages all matters regarding guardianships, preparation of pleadings and annual reports for filing with the Probate Court. She also assists with the documentation of Medicaid planning, advance directives and estate planning documents. She was educated at the Evangel University and brings over 20 years of experience to the table. In her spare time, Cheryl enjoys the beautiful Florida weather and spending time with her family and granddaughter.
Penny assists Gary and his team in all aspects of office administration. She handles court e-filing, phone inquiries, file maintenance and witnesses document signing. A Pinellas County native, Penny holds an AA degree from St. Petersburg College and a BA of University of South Florida. In her spare time, Penny is an artist, creating paintings, prints and handmade painted ornaments and jewelry.
